Do you think Barbie dolls are good or bad for children

bad would be easiest to argue I think.

good points, I do not think it'd have anything that any other toy would not have.

bad points:
gives girls the wrong image of what beauty & health is during the most impressionable time in their lives, as children. they grow thinking that is what perfect is. in turn, their self-image is distorted & their self-esteem is low because they can not attain that ''perfect'' figure. could eventually lead to irrational acts in a desperate attempt to take charge of their body & make it to that ideal weight or ideal figure.

I had hundreds of Barbies growing up and as far as I can tell they have had no negative effects on my self esteem. I think if you have supportive parents and a good learning environment that you can develop normally.

Well, in some ways, it could hurt a childs image of what their body should look like. If u really look at Barbie or Ken, they have so called ''perfect'' bodies. Honestly, if a woman were to have Barbies exact body & measurements, she would have to be 6'9'' tall. Really, how many women do u see that r that tall?

I really think girls, no matter what age they are, should be happy with who they are. When a girl sees Barbie & all the clothing that goes with it, they may think that, that is how they r supposed to dress & look like.

But it can go the other way too that Barbie is just a doll & by a girl playing with her she is using her imagination by her making up what Barbie is doing, wearing & so on.
